All is well after the rainstorm

This morning’s scene is good and fine, long rain has not harmed the land. – Du Fu

I rubbed my sleepy eyes and looked out the window.

WTH?  Nope, whew, it was just water on the window.  Thank goodness it wasn’t frosted from a winter storm!   I knew I hadn’t slept that long!

Already hot outside.  And the raindrops from the storm, back in the wee hours of the morning, hung tightly to the panes.  Kind of a cool abstract kind of look, eh?

I grabbed my camera and a cup of coffee and went outside to recharge.

Sleep just didn’t do the trick for me last night.  Actually, it is more of a lack of sleep that did a number on me.

I find a walk in the garden helps give me a pick me up.

Hope you enjoy my little garden walk this morning.

Whatever kind of flower this is, it seems happy to hang out with dew drops.

And spider webs.  Do you see the two dew drops at the top, and how it kind of looks like a face looking back at me?

Ah, yes, all is well.

  1. Love your pics! I know that look on the window. Our skylights looked like that this AM and it means I need to keep windows closed and the AC on. 🙂 The yellow flower is a Stella d’Oro. I love them…and they bloom all summer if you deadhead. I have several and just split them again two summers ago…they grow like crazy if they like their location. Of course, the deer like them too.

Must be something with the moon…I woke at 5 and that was it for sleep for me. Hope tonight is better, but the heat and humidity aren’t great sleep producers here.

    1. Thank you! Yes, the windows lead to the AC running right away this morning. Ah, thank you for identifying the flowers. I didn’t know you can keep them blooming all summer! So far the deer haven’t bothered them.
Something about the moon or the storms or whatever, sleep was awfully hard to come by for me last night. I hope you get a good night of sleep too!

    1. LOL – thankfully we don’t trim it. It is for the wild critters who live there and go between the field and our yard. We like it when they stay in the grass and away from the yard. 😉

  2. A thoroughly wonderful morning walk or should I say a midnight stroll. Love the window abstracts too Shelley 🙂

    1. Thank you, Brian, glad you enjoyed the walk and the photos – and that you stayed up until midnight to view the post ;-)!! LOL

  3. that was a heck of a downpour, based on your video yesterday. Wow! Everything looks fresh and beautiful. I saw the two dew drops and the face right away! 😎

  4. Thanks for the beautiful nature walk. You get such amazing photos with your close-ups. Wow! And sleep…what’s that? Gets more and more elusive as time goes on.

    1. You’re welcome. Thank you, too – I’m glad you enjoyed the walk and photos. Sleep…ah…sleep… If it would only pay attention and respond to our need for it, we’d be golden!

  5. Thanks for taking us on your garden tour, Shelley! I love the photos of the flowers and the “frosted” windowpanes. Glad to read that “all is well”!

  6. Beautiful pictures. I’d send sleep your way if I had any to spare. Happy Wednesday to you too.

    1. Thank you!! Sleep is quite the commodity, I don’t blame you for not wanting to spare any of its precious restful nights.
