A Cat’s Rainy Day Secret

On a not-so-rainy day in Wisconsin, in the middle of January 2022, I was caught in the act of avoiding my tax prep chores. I have a witness. Should I bribe her not to tell you or just let her be?

I’m looking forward to summer the rain gets warmer.

Instead of doing more productive things, like data entry for my tax prep, I put on some soothing piano tunes. I snacked on my favorite trio of mid-day munchables. And I sipped on my Matcha while I sorted wine corks.

My prized possessions have no utter purpose other than to collect dust. The collection has been decades in the making. Only the cats know if that is true or not. The corks will someday become an award-winning project made by Mr. and me from vineyards across the world (pursued at local vineyards and Woodman’s grocery store). Until that rainy day in July 2022, they are sufficiently sorted and dusted. AGAIN. It was a very relaxing project. It made me and my supervisor a tad bit sleepy.

Mr. chuckled at my efforts. At least I was kept busy while Tizzie supervised. I do think she wanted some of the olive juice, but I didn’t give in to her begging. I grabbed my camera instead. She can be so angelic. On the table. 😳😆

She was not impressed with my project, I guess?

Is it just me and my imagination or does she look like a cat that’s going to bribe me for something on the rainy days come spring? When vineyards open back up? Maybe if I make the corks into a bird house, she’ll enjoy watching the birds instead of noticing we’re not here to meow and beg to? LOL?

Peace out for now – I need to catch up on blog reading and commenting and the sorting of tax papers will might may win some of my undivided attention today too!

Post Inspiration – Linda G. Hill’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday – Your prompt for #JusJoJan and Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “a rainy day.” Write about the first thing that comes to mind when you think of the phrase “a rainy day.” Enjoy!

PS – I hope you’re having a great weekend! Are you staying out of trouble? Or are you stirring up trouble like Calvin and Hobbes?

  1. Oh my gosh, Tizzie makes me laugh with those cute face expressions! I think your cork collection is pretty cool, Shelley, I’d like to look through them. Your snack looks so yummy, I would woof that down really fast! Happy Sunday, guys!

    1. Thanks, John! Glad you liked Tizzie’s expressions. It was lucky that I was there to capture them as she yawned.
The corks are fun – I just haven’t had the heart to toss them away.
The snack goes down quickly. Every Day!
Happy Sunday to you too – stay warm!

  2. I love the cat photos. Nothing better than feline attitude. We had about 300 wine corks around here. I gave them to Goodwill. I just couldn’t toss them in the trash.

    1. Glad you enjoyed Tizzie’s attitude. She’s all-cat and all-tude!
I’m afraid to count the corks. I also don’t want to just toss them in that quantity. That’s cool that Goodwill takes them. Hmm… Is that what was in your first 3 boxes you donated? 😉

      1. Some of it, yes. I read that there are places that’ll recycle corks IF you have a thousand to send to them. I figure Goodwill might collect that many. 🤷‍♀️

    1. I’m glad you enjoyed the post. I was happy to catch her big yawn and that grin afterwards. She’s a hoot. Thanks for stopping by! 🥰🤗

  3. Did you interrupt Tizzie from a nap or did she say “ho hum – please no more pictures until you pay me in catnip!” Those are great photos you caught of Tizzie being Tizzie.

    1. Yes, I think I did interrupt her attempt to nap in the sun. She was also begging for a treat. Thank you – you know her so well. 🙂

  4. She is so pretty–great pics! Our puppy was sick for a couple days. I couldn’t concentrate on a thing. He’s all better now. Thank goodness–and good for my work, too!

    1. Thank you! Yes, she’s a pretty kitty.
Oh, no! I’m glad your puppy is better. It’s so hard when pets are sick, they can’t tell you what’s wrong. I’m glad you’re able to concentrate and get back to work.
Thanks for taking a break to stop by here to share your thoughts. I always appreciate hearing from you!
