The weekend Mrs. went MIA

Aliens do live here in our woods.  They make loud scary noises and then the deer run.  And YES! it does happen.

No, they don’t, and no, it doesn’t happen here.

Yes, it does.  People and trees get abducted all the time.

No, they don’t.  Not here.  Not from our house or in our backyard.  Okay, maybe it does happen in the neighbor’s yard.

Yes, they do in our yard, too.  See…they even left trails.

Besides, something like that had to have happened to the Mrs.  I’m sure she was abducted for the weekend.  Anyhoo, something caused her to go MIA for a while.  She normally posts, every day.  Maybe she was sucked back to the beach?  Sand gravity has that effect on people I hear?

You’re just kidding, right?  It’s an April Fool’s joke, right?

Nope, it’s the truth.  It happened right here, in our own backyard, just a few acres away from where the forest met the loggers and the herds’ of deer disappeared.

Mrs. disappeared, too, just like the deer.  For a day and a half.  Seriously, I missed the heck out of her.  I stood by the door waiting for her to reappear.

That’s enough, I don’t believe you.  Stop it.  You’re fibbing.

Okay…okay…all my fabrication may be an April Fools’ Joke.  Or maybe not?  Can you guess what really happened to the Mrs.?

Here are your choices –

  1. She was abducted.  (Really, you’re trying that again? – I thought you agreed that couldn’t be an option?!?).
  2. She was absorbed in one of the best books she’s read in a really long time, and she just sat and read all weekend.  (On a side note, Where the Forest Meets the Stars by Glendy Vanderah is a great read!)
  3. She hung out with her girlfriend, went to an arts and craft show, went to a pub, may have had a few one or more too many beers, ate a frozen pizza with Mr.. and then woke up late the next day, read more of the book, then went shopping, and bought more adorable shoes for the summer, and a shirt, and a sweater, ate dinner and went to bed early to finish reading the book.
  4. She was busily preparing for the A-Z blogging challenge by writing all 26 of the posts ahead of time, and then realized she never wrote one for A so here she is ad-libbing her way to a post.  Which, by the way, she’s not 100% convinced she likes the theme (Dubious Minimalism TM) she said she was going to write about.
  5. None of the above.
  6. A mutation of the above.

Post Inspiration – A for A-Z blogging challenge.  Upon closer look, it is a Blogger Challenge, so I’m not positive how to work it with my WordPress blog or if ping-backs work properly if at all??  I’m hoping some WP blogger who has figured it out will stumble upon this and leave feedback on how to help me out?!  If not, I’ll happily post away my normal way and step out of the challenge.  (As of first posting, Jill had the link to the WordPress A-Z, YAY, thanks Jill – go check her A-Z post out too!)

PS – Have you read that book?  OMG – I loved it.  I bought it with my Kindle, now I want to buy a hardcover copy.  Hope you have a great week.  I’m looking forward to reading more A-Z entries.

  1. No reason WordPress people like us can’t do A to Z. My theme is the scientific search for alien life, so this post was right up my ally!

    1. Thank you, JS! Glad you enjoyed it, I’ll be stopping by to check out your alien life too! Have you read the book I read, you’d like it, there’s an alien twist to it!

  2. Shelley i just one to say one thing. Your photos and how you present them is always gorgeous. The content you pen, always interesting and thoughtful (and often makes me smile).
But overall, you blog is gorgeous. When I come here it is as if I am entering a garden of beauty.

  3. I was wondering where you were. Mmmm… So many interesting guesses. I don’t see Tostitos listed anywhere, but otherwise #3… (sounds like a great weekend!)

    1. Thank you, Janet. It was a fun weekend. I appreciate the encouragement for the challenge, like you said on your post, I’m not sure I’m ready for it…but oh, well.

  4. I thought you said you’d be doing A to Z… Anyway, nothing to ping back to this year, although you can ping to the letter posts on the blog (atozchallenge.wordpress.com), but it isn’t required.

You might want to display the A to Z badge a little more prominently (higher up in the column, maybe?), as well as use the letter graphics (they’re here: http://www.a-to-zchallenge.com/p/bannersbadges-2019.html), more so people can tell you’re doing the challenge and can act accordingly. Again, neither is required, but it does help let people know you’re doing it.

Anyway, none of that is as important as you doing the challenge, and I for one am very happy to see you are. 😉

    1. Thank you, John! I appreciate your insights and helpful tips and for the welcome to the challenge. There’s a lot of bloggers doing it, I just looked at the spreadsheet again! WOW! Your theme is awesome, I look forward to reading your posts!

  5. Yay! Another book for my TBR queue. Glad you found the A to Z link. The good times have begun to roll 🙂

  6. I think it was a conglomeration of all of the suggestions did I pass or fail the quiz? I liked Copper’s B&W feet and his pink tongue sticking out … very sweet and the cat as well!

    1. You guessed right – now if only I had thought of a prize for the winner!?! Thank you for your compliments. I love it when I catch the pets doing their little wind down rituals in the sunshine.

      1. We’ll hold you to it for next time … just kidding! Yes, their impromptu pictures are great – I like when you blend in B&W photos as well, keeps the posts interesting.
