The morning of my 770th post

To start my Wednesday off, I chose a milestone post to remind me that I can do this blogging stuff.  After all, I’ve got quite a few posts under my belt.  So why is it that I make things so hard is my question of the day?

I made renewing my blog’s theme much harder than it had to be.  I’m good at such things, I guess.

I tried multiple times, sucking up all my ‘this blogging stuff is fun’ time slot for the day.

I was running out of time, so I had to renew my theme license today, or at least by the 8th of October.

I know, I had more time, but today was the chosen day.

As I clicked the link in the email, I remembered the horrors from the year before.  Back then, I clicked all the wrong blanks to fill out and reset my account by accident.  I had to reach out to tech support to make all the problems that created disappear.

Silly me, I struggled to make a simple theme renewal purchase.  I’m sure the tech support chaps were rolling their eyes.

But not today!

After walking through the wrong steps again, I dug deep down into my memory bank and figured it out.  All my lil’ ol’ self.

Apparently, if I follow the correct steps, and find the tiny little link that says “Log In” it makes it very easy to renew a theme license.

WordPress and JetPack do the rest automatically!

Meanwhile, the pets slept through all of it, not a worry in the world.  They know that I do enough of that for them.

And you, my dearest fans, thank you for sticking with me through my trials to get all up to date for the year!  Like you, I’m looking forward to not having to worry about this stuff for another year!!

Post Inspiration – Linda G. Hill’s One-Liner Wednesday – Linda feels today is a ‘Whew’ kind of day too – check out the link how you can join in on the fun here.

PS – Do you ever take the long route to complete a simple task?  What have you done lately that surprised you as to how simple it really was to accomplish?  What do you have on the to-do list for Wednesday?

  1. Congrats on all that you’ve achieved. Every day is something new when you keep a personal blog like this one, isn’t it? And every experience has the potential of being your next post. 😊

    1. Thank you, Ally – yes, I agree with you. I appreciate your encouragement and support. I keep thinking of you every day as each individual window goes in…”what would Ally say about that…?” We’re not ready to try to rehang curtains yet. It’s like the fear of getting the first dent on a new car. Plus there’s the dust factor on the old curtains battling with the cost of the new windows. Wait…you didn’t want me to reply with another post!! 😉

      1. Next week *fingers crossed* our new *again* windows are to be here. I’m glad your installation is going well. It gives me hope.

        1. I’m excited for you – I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they get the windows right this time for you!! Ours is going well so far. 6 more windows to go!

  2. Bravo and double bravo! I know how the triumph of completing something with your own brain that seemed much too hard feels, and I’m happy for you … and as littlevintagerose says, happy for me, happy for us.

  3. Your theme builder is in the UK, sweet! Plans for today: watch Star Trek and clean the backyard up from the wind… Tough day.

    1. I didn’t research where it was from!? I do like it though.
We watch Star Trek every night!! Hope your clean-up went well!!

  4. I have the same dilemma, Shelley. I’m having a hard time transferring my files to my new phone when it was simple. I guess I’m not ready to part with my old phone. 😁

What a cozy corner! I love it.

    1. I’m always afraid to change to new phones. I hope you figure it out.
Thank you, the pets and I love our little corner. 🙂

  5. Sometimes the long way works better, especially when dealing with blog innards. I tried adding something to a widget and all H broke loose (it seemed). The WP “helpers” got me back on track, but really. There’s more time I’ll never get back.
Good for you for persevering!! Congrats!

    1. Yeah, I’ve done the widget disaster too – glad you were able to get HE help!! Thank you for your encouragement!!

  6. When I was working, I would spend two hours automating a task that might save me five minutes a month. Programmer’s mind, don’t you know…

    Happy 770!

    1. Thank you, Amy!! All of my efforts and trials prevented me from joining the Lens-Artists last week. I’ll be back this weekend I hope!! Thank you for your encouragement to keep going!

  7. Isn’t it amazing how the pets sleep through truly stressful stuff like this but go crazy over simple things like earth-shaking thunderstorms?

  8. I often take the long road or drag my feet, simple or complex things – putting it off all the time. I had a Gutenberg episode twice the last week which soured me on it again. I’ve been drafting in Word and cutting-and-pasting to WordPress for years and in Gutenberg which I started using in mid-April. Last week, I could not justify my text. I let it go but this week, I cut-and-pasted and everything was in italics. So I corrected each paragraph but again could not justify. Reached out to a Happiness Engineer who said I need to use Notepad only and no issues. I said it was not problematic before this last week – grrrr!

    1. I think we all appreciate simplicity. I haven’t tried Gutenberg for a long time. I’m not surprised to hear there are still issues. How in the world would anyone just know to switch to Notepad?! Glad they were able to provide you with a solution. You’re brave to keep on trying to use it.

    1. LOL – I do the same thing with those kind of letters. So many people to please with them, the overthinking just rolls around in my head! Glad you got your task taken care of too!

  9. Congratulations Shelley on this milestone! Now I wonder whether I need to renew my blog’s theme? I still know soooo little. Good for you on figuring it out! Looking over your post, I think I misinterpreted renewing theme. I though I had to set up a whole new theme. Thanks for sharing the daily trials and tribulations and surviving:)

    1. Thank you, Erica! Each year I go through this, and I think to myself, “I won’t forget how to do this next year!” But I do. It’s part of the challenge of blogging I guess. I’m thankful you appreciated my words of wisdom. 😉
