Superpowers found in our walls

When you’re faced with an obstacle as big as a wall, do you tap into your superpowers to overcome it?  When you’re looking for something in the distance, are you able to discern a clear path to where you want to go?

Some men have thousands of reasons why they cannot do what they want to, when all they need is one reason why they can. – Mary Frances Berry

Do you wish you were tall enough to peek over the wall obstructing your view?  Have you made the wall strong, inexplicably covered with obstacles created in your own mind?  Do you wish worries would just melt away and you’d be free to go wherever you please?  (Like on a beach in Jamaica?  Oh, wait…that’s just me…!)IMG_9074cbwDo you imagine a gate to open so you can enter in?  Or do you pause to glance in while passing by?  Do you venture out at a pace that works best for you?IMG_9073cbwDo you imagine yourself at the end of the journey all full, happy, and content?  Or do you imagine yourself at the beginning of the journey ready to discover all it is right in front of you?  IMG_9085cbwDo you plan stops to enjoy along the way – mile markers to complete one step at a time; including places to rest and recharge as you chose your next stopping point?IMG_9083cbwI often wonder what goes on outside the walls of our house while we’re sleeping? We have a wall that protects our yard keeping large animals from entering in.  But there are other animals that do get in.

I find it intriguing when I see mysterious silhouettes of small critters appear outside the fence.  I’ve never caught them in action, just remnant traces of their happy little paw prints in the snow.

Follow your bliss and the universe will open doors where there were only walls. – Joseph Campbell

Are they going to or coming from somewhere, how do I tell?  I wonder how they decide where to go?  They don’t mind traveling alone, looking for shelter or food; on a mission with our fenced wall to guide them to openings just the right size for them.

They don’t have superpowers to use to climb in…do they??  I hope to goodness they don’t find a way inside the house while we’re sleeping.  Because that would be creepy…and require me to find some superpowers (or a superman in his tightie whities) to scare them off.  No way, no how, our walls are impenetrable…

Spiderman can climb walls and he’s got a cool outfit. – Rhona Mitra

IMG_9082cbwLittle critters are moving about our walls.  They use the fence walls as an inscrutable launching pad, sending them off into the big-wide-world.

Mice seek opportunities.  If a mouse can use a wall to do it, so can we!  Be a super-mouse! Use your wall – walk along it, climb it, peek over it, open the gate, it’s up to you, go see where your wall takes you!  IMG_9071cbw

Quirk me – are you a superpower planner or a wanderer?  What works best for you when you have a wall blocking you?  What superpowers do you use to overcome walls blocking you or your writing?

  1. Hello Shelley, your words strike a chord with me. You remind me of another friend who always told me, “things happen, or don’t happen, for a reason,” and “when one thing does not work out, it means something better is ahead for you.” She was often very excitable when I felt defeated. Sadly at this point in time I feel constantly exhausted (I have posted on my blog a lot about this, to get it out my system). I do have a plan, but I am so exhausted it hampers me badly when all I want /need is to move forward with this .. plan. I have much work to do in script writing, book pending barely started (only about 40-50 pages so far). When my sleep is restored I will restart these projects but I am sad that I cannot do it now, because it helps me to heal from inner turmoils. I don’t want to post a novel on your page, but I am sad that I am forced to remain in limbo for this time. Only an injunction against the guilty party will solve this, so I am pleased to have the *plan* at least, and a friend who does his best to support me in my health needs. When I am feeling better I will hopefully be able to write to you again as your words strike a chord but the vibrations are slow in my sleepy mind. For now. I hope this day finds you well, and that what you are doing brings you joy. Your other posts there, about decluttering and letting go of stuff – Feb and April last year, I have done much of that too so more I can share with you later. I dislike to be sad, but I also believe it is very important to be honest with myself about how I am feeling. Sending you well wishes, and wrap up warm in that snowy weather! Those photos are really lovely 🙂 Best wishes, from sb. Kent, England.
