Shelley’s still shopping?

Well, sort of, first she’s having more pie.

For breakfast – it’s the fuel of champion shoppers on Thanksgiving weekend.  It’s Small Business Saturday – she must go check out their deals!

Before she leaves, she’s pausing to digest more pie and ponder thoughts about what she bought on Black Friday.

In all of the exuberant planning Thursday night, she may have neglected to make good lists.   We were all in a food coma state and not thinking too straight.  Too much pie does it to us every year.

Causing delusional and all happy I still fit in my skinny jeans in the morning joy.  As she got dressed today, hmm…not so much so.  But the thought of 12,000 + steps as we shopped on Friday…can that be topped today as we return items?  All that walking and carrying bags had to have burned off at least one sliver of pie, right?

Or maybe there’s something about the mirrors in dressing rooms that make you look 10 #’s lighter, I swear it’s true…!

Anyhoo…there might have been more than just cat-toys purchased on a whim.

Before she heads out to Small Business Saturday shopping…she may need to evaluate what items to return that were bought ‘cuz we thought we liked how adorable it looked on us in the store…!

Blame it on the food comas, they are a bitch…but, there’s the pan isn’t empty, there’s still more pie!

PS – Are you a Cool Whip on pumpkin pie type person?  Or must you have the real deal?  Do you go back to the stores to return stuff on Saturday that you bought on Friday?

  1. Your opening sentence has just reminded me of something I used to say to many of my clients, “feedback is the breakfast of champions” 🤦‍♂️

  2. I *adore* Cool Whip. Funny enough, I haven’t really enjoyed pumpkin pie since I was young. My mom made one every year and it was THE dessert at Thanksgiving — everyone ended up with a slice at their place (topped with a Cool Whip dollop) at the end of the meal. I don’t remember anyone actually asking if I wanted the pie; it was just a given. 😆 Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

    1. Thank you for sharing your Cool Whip story – YES – that same thing happened to me when I was growing up – the pie was expected to be served and eaten – a given. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving too!

  3. This was our first year ever making homemade whipped cream. Don’t think we’ll ever go back to Cool Whip. And yes to returns but not just on Black Friday purchases. That’s my MO. I’m a horrible shopper.

    1. I like the real deal whipped cream way better too. It’s just so darn easy to pick up a tub of Cool Whip. And surprisingly enough, it never seems to go bad before the pie is gone?! I hope your returns go smoothly this year – ours went surprisingly well, thank goodness!

    1. I forgot to send pieces of pie home with my kids…yikes, we don’t need a whole pie to eat! Maybe I should try selling some slices? Shopping was great fun!

  4. This was funny Shelly. Well, no shopping for me, except what I bought for myself and ordered online (well I’m a bundle of laughs aren’t I?) As for pumpkin pie, I’m cool with Cool Whip and I don’t think I have ever had whipping cream on pie, just Cool Whip or the aerosol whipped cream. Do you take Sunday off to rest before you go back to work or are you “all in” for Cyber Monday?

    1. Thanks for the whipping confessions! 😉 I haven’t decided about Sunday yet…I do like to have all my shopping done by the end of Sunday. Then I can wrap gifts and relax!

      1. And you got a ton of bargains … you did very well. Have you decorated too? Thanksgiving is a week early so many people may not have decorated yet.

        1. Yes, lots of deals. No, no decorating yet, hoping to do that this weekend. We’re debating about getting a real tree or not, to shake things up a bit for the year.

          1. That sounds nice having a real tree – it has been years since one was in this house. I was young because I have pictures of me with our poodle in front of the aluminum tree in 1965. The blue revolving light and the blue bulbs – everyone had them back then. I have two tabletop Christmas trees, one was from work, and two ceramic trees. My mom bought me a ceramic Boyd’s Bear tree because I collected bears for years – I stopped when I ran out of places to put them. I’ve not had it out in about ten years – maybe next year I’ll put it out and use the picture in a post. It is very cute. This pictures does not do it justice:

I did put up the Christmas wreath yesterday … that was a start and that’s it for me.

          2. I remember my grandparent’s having the blue tree. Maybe that has something to do with my love of blue lights at Christmas! Dang…I haven’t even put out my wreath yet, I better get started! My mom collected Boyds Bears too.

          3. Back in the mid-60s, I think everyone had the silver trees and you had either all blue, all green or all red with the coordinating floodlight. They also had the revolving multi-colored light then you used multi-colored bulbs. The tree had straight branches and you slipped protective brown paper shields over them to protect the aluminum pieces from getting damaged and just handling it made your hands turn black from the aluminum. I have all different bears as I collected them for years – I was allergic to them as a baby. I have one baby picture next to a big bear, then a year or so later all stuffed animals had to be removed from my room. The Boyds fur and resin pieces are very cute.

          4. Yes, I think I remember those trees too. Fun memories. My mom collected bears – she adored them. I’ve kept a few of them but donated and gifted the rest. So nice you found a way to enjoy them despite your allergies.

          5. I collected for years and others would buy bears as well as my mom and me. Bears everywhere! I think we started to make up for having none as a child.

          6. Yes, I’m sure we would have had fun talking about our collection. My mom often said she wasn’t sure it was a smart idea to buy me my first bear when I was probably in the 30s because there were bears everywhere – even on her dresser as I ran out of room. My mom collected duck figurines – some in resin, some hand-carved and all different sizes … ducks everywhere but it isn’t as noticeable since the house is done in “country” and many are decoys so they fit right in.
