Welcome

My favorite hope quotes

Thank you for stopping by to check out my little corner of the blogosphere. I hope your day is going well. I greet you warmly today, not with my own words, but with words of hope and wisdom of some favorite HOPE quotes.

And, of course, I’ll add some nature photography – taken by yours truly.

Ready, set, go – follow this rabbit around the yard.

What would be a cute name for this rabbit? It is thankfully eating weeds instead of my flowers!

Come on in and enjoy the show. My garden gate is always ready to open up to you my dear blogging friends!

My morning glories are finally starting to climb the lattice! The rabbit ate one whole section but it has grown back.

Hopeful thinking can get you out of your fear zone and into your appreciation zone.

My zinnias are beginning to bud. I hope I get a wide variety of colors. Look at the rainbow I captured too!

It’s a good place when all you have is hope and not expectations.

Danny Boyle
The tiger lilies are finishing up their blooming party for the season.

Hope is important because it can make the present moment less difficult to bear. If we believe that tomorrow will be better, we can bear a hardship today.

Thich Nhat Hanh
I hope the two mourning doves that hit the window survived! They both hit it at the same time!

One lives in the hope of becoming a memory.

Antonio Porchia
This pink tiger lily keeps on blooming.

Hope is definitely not the same thing as optimism. It is not the conviction that something will turn out well, but the certainty that something makes sense, regardless of how it turns out.

Vaclav Havel
The black-eyed Susans are getting ready to burst open.

My hope still is to leave the world a bit better than when I got here.

Jim Henson
My little dog is not feeling well. I hope he feels better soon. Sadly, though, I fear his end is near.

Never deprive someone of hope; it may be all they have.

H. Jackson Brown, Jr.
There were 7 mourning doves in our yard at one time!
Then there were 8 mourning doves. It was quite the party! Can you see all of them?

At the end of the day, all you can hope for is to go on. The older I get, the more I realize that just keeping on keeping on is what life’s all about.

Janis Ian
A song about hope that doesn’t have the word HOPE in it at all!

PS – What is your favorite hope quote? The hope to see my daughters in July (aka, their birthday month) is coming true! I get to see them both at the same time TODAY! I hope your day is grand and that you’ve found some hope to brighten your corner of the blogosphere. Take care – come back again soon, I adore hearing from you! xoxo

  1. Lovely quotes and beautiful photos. I’m sorry to hear about your pup, I hope it’s a passing bit of discomfort. It’s hard when they start to slow down. Take care.

    1. Thank you, Dan. Yes, it’s hard to watch the slow decline. Sudden days of struggle make it harder. Today he seems a bit more normal. I appreciate your words of encouragement.

  2. Lovely photos, Shelley, I hope Copper will be better soon. I hope the doves are OK too, no birds have smashed into my bedroom window in a long time now, good news!

    1. Thanks, John, I appreciate your encouraging words. There was a hawk hanging around the yard, so I think the doves have been hiding more. Copper is a bit better today – it’s been a long week with him not feeling well. 🙁

  3. Nice photos and quotes. I feel for you and Copper. It’s so hard to see our pets get old.

    1. Thank you, Laurel. I remember last year weren’t you going through a tough time with your dog too? It’s so hard to see them get old. In retrospect, each summer Copper has declined. On an upside note, he doesn’t spend much time in the grass so he’s not licking like crazy. 😉 He’s a bit more ‘new normal’ this morning, so maybe he’s worked the stomach bug through his system? Time will tell. I appreciate your words of support, thank you!

        1. Aw, that’s what I thought. I hope you’re feeling better now?! It is hard to say goodbye to our pets. I still miss our Golden Retriever and all our other pets who are gone. I will miss Copper terribly – so much so I don’t think we’ll ever have another dog. 🙁

    1. Thank you, Janis! I appreciate your words of support. I agree, it’s so difficult to see pets in pain or distress. Since his vision and his hearing are gone, stress comes on very easily. I tried calming tablets and he won’t eat any of them. The only thing that seems to keep him calm is me being present as he falls asleep and wakes up. 😉

  4. What a stunning collection of images and quotes. Each one a reason to pause and contemplate. So sorry to hear about Copper. And so happy for you to see both your daughters for their birthdays. The contrasts in life are dizzying at times. Take care.

    1. Thank you – I feel a bit rusty with the camera lately.
Yeah, poor Copper has been declining more and more this year. Today is a good day, so I’ll take that over the other ones we just went through.
It was AWESOME to see the girls, even if I was worried about Copper the whole time.
You’re right – the contrasts in life are dizzying.
I hope you’re feeling better with each passing day too.

      1. You’re most welcome. We get through by focusing on those good days, right? Not easy. Hugging your daughters must surely have helped. 🙂

  5. Oh, I am so sorry to hear about your pup! I hope he feels better soon, too. Thank you for these lovely quotes and photos–that pink tiger lily is so gorgeous!–it’s what I needed today!

    1. Thank you, Rebecca, welcome back from your vacation! I loved seeing all of your photos on IG.
Thanks for the well wishes for Copper – I think all of the positive thoughts shared here for him are helping. He’s a bit better today, at least he’s eating again. And he appears to be resting comfortably.
I agree with you on the pink tiger lily – I’m so happy it survived the winter and the voles who ate all the other ones. Isn’t it amazing how a simple flower can spark such joy!?

  6. Love Janis Ian’s quote on hope. It reminds me of the saying taking it one day at a time, which I’ve been thinking of lately. I hope Cooper recuperates soon! Enjoy the time with your daughters!

    1. Thank you, Andrea! Janis is wise indeed!
Copper is a bit better today – we’re taking things one day at a time with him.
Seeing my daughters filled my heart with energy to keep on keeping on. 🙂

  7. I like all the quotes and your pictures of your garden that you paired with them Shelley, but I think I like the last one best. I always liked Janice Ian, ever since her song “At Seventeen”. I’m happy you spent the day celebrating your daughters’ respective July birthdays … I’m sad for the mourning doves that both smacked into the window and it looked like it was a bad hit. Of course I’m sad for Copper – perhaps it was an off day or this heat, humidity has beaten him down a little. Hugs for you and Copper. {{{ }}}

    1. Thank you for your supportive comments Linda, much appreciated! I remember that song too. I loved the guitar and the lyrics!
Yeah, the birds and Copper this week have been sad for me too. I’m not sure about the doves, we haven’t seen them in the yard lately. There was a Cooper’s Hawk in the yard, so not sure if it scared them off or what? Copper is a little bit more normal, so he’s hanging on, for now. He sends love to you! xoxo

      1. The Hawks have gotten doves at the Park – I hate to see it. I wonder if the doves were escaping a hawk. At the Park I see the birds scatter and give their warning calls and then I look up and a hawk is circling. Good that Copper is more like himself … that’s good, but it’s still difficult. Hugs to both of you.

        1. Yeah, hawks are mean. We have eagles and vultures and owls that are just as mean.
Copper is better, but has declined a lot in a year. Thanks for the cyber hugs, we appreciate them and you!

  8. The Jim Henson quote is the one that resonates with me. It’s a good mantra and a goal and so cool when I say it in my mind in Kermit’s voice.

  9. Beautiful photos as always Shelley. I’m sure it was a fabulous day for you, getting to spend time with your daughters. I know what you’re going through with little Copper. One of my girls will be 14 next month. She didn’t eat well yesterday, but today is back to normal. Maybe he’s having a tummy ache and will be ok soon. I so wish they could tell us what’s wrong!

    1. Thank you – I’m glad you enjoyed the photos. Yes, it was fabulous to see the girls. It’s fun to visit them in their spaces to see how well they are and how grown up they are. I did feel a bit older, but that’s a good thing, right?
Aw, yes, dog raising is challenging when they’re not feeling well. Copper is 16 1/2. Each time he goes through this kind of episode, he declines a bit more. His tummy is better, but his vision is worse and his hearing as well. He sleeps a lot and he gets lost a lot. I guess all of my experience with dementia makes me a good mom for him. I hope your girl is feeling better too! xoxo

  10. Beautiful photographs, Shelley, I trust Copper will be better soon. I trust the pigeons are OK as well, no birds have crushed into my window in quite a while presently, uplifting news!

Your yard looks beautiful! Extraordinary statements and pictures. I trust your puppy feels much improved. It is so hard to see them in agony or trouble when you can’t fix what’s up.

    1. Thank you, Nitesh. Yes, Copper is feeling better – I hope the doves are too, haven’t seen them back in the yard lately. Glad you haven’t had any birds crash into your windows. It’s amazing how loud that sound is and that the windows survive too.
Glad you enjoyed the photos – I’m guessing you likely have a post about hope quotes on your site? Wow – you’ve done great work in organizing lots of quotes!

  11. I love your gate, I love your garden, I love your birds. I am feeling sad for Copper, a dog I have gotten to know over the years.

    1. Aw, thank you, Brian! We appreciate your kudos and support. You’re in my thoughts this week – I heard you’re in lockdown again! 😒😢

  12. Hey there – so glad you were able to see both daughters
    – and this post was truly inspirational – the weaving go quotes and photos and narrative – well done

I did chuckle a little to see the mark from the birds – not a bad laugh – but I feel bad when birds do that – and we talked about it before – eh? anyhow – hope those two did not have any damage from the window collision –

    1. Thank you, Yvette – glad you enjoyed the post. Yes, it was wonderful to see the girls!
I think the birds are okay? At least there weren’t any found below the window. Window collisions happen in our neck of the woods!
