It’s a slippery slope when whip cracker meets her match

I watched intently as Mr. cleverly convinced Mrs. that she met her whip-cracking match.

A man with a small bottle of grout will do that no doubt.

It was a great show.

It made my ears ring.

Mr. worked hard to get the grout into the $1 disposable bottle so then he could squeeze it out in-between the row of tiles.

Of course, Mrs. took photos as she asked how long it would take.

My sister watched from above (Tizzie’s figured out how to get up on the new slippery counters)…she’s so proud of her agile self.

I watched it all from below.

With all my redundant fluff, I haven’t figured out how to land on the counters without launching myself off of the ledges.

Meanwhile, Copper hid away in the other room.  He caused socks to fall off a slope of the donation pile.  He made such a lovely spot for himself with all 18 pairs of socks.  What is it about socks that dogs love anyhow?  Now Mrs. will have to wash them before donating.

There’s a lesson in that pile – “Donate right away, don’t delay!”

Oh, and yes, by the way, Mr.’s adorable bottle of grout all squeezed out requires 24 hours to dry.  Before the caulk under the tiles can be applied.

And caulk requires another 24 hours to dry.

Sigh…

Yep, another two nights without a sink.

Mr.:  “The rest of this project will all be in the waiting, my dear.  Waiting for grout, waiting for caulk, waiting for things to dry in between each phase.  But you can help me with this part…which, by the way, will also require more drying time.”

Mrs.:  “I guess I’ve met my whip-cracking match.”

PS – Do you see the subtle slopes in each picture?  Which one is your favorite?  Does your dog dig socks too?  What do you think of the clever way Mr. applied the grout?  Any guesses as to what the next waiting part of the project is?

    1. Thank you, Ally – I’m touched that you’re using your new Keyshia to reply. It’ll be a one-liner sink or a replacement window… 😉

  1. Genius move on the grout applicator. And that tile and window ledge look perfect. Really nice. I am sure you’ll be THRILLED to have a sink again. 🙂

    1. Yes, he’s a genius when it comes to MacGyver kind of things. Thanks, we’re loving the new look. I’m convinced one of these days we’ll have a sink again. I will be beyond thrilled! 😉

  2. Those tiles look really nice! The waiting will be worth it. I imagine there will be more waiting involved during the sink installation? Sealing and grouting and all that fun stuff? 🙂

      1. Your welcome. No, it’s still there and it lets me know it in it’s own way… Grrr! Have ultrasound on the 18th, already had X-rays. Will make decision once all the pieces are assembled.

        1. Yikes – I didn’t realize they can take that long to resolve themselves! I’m sending you postive vibes so all goes smoothly!

    1. Thanks, Alice. Yes, Tizzie is very good at balancing acts. She can even walk on the railings without falling. We appreciate your encouragement on the project!

  3. Why do cats always look disgusted? Just think about how nice it will be once your new sink is installed. I am assuming the Mr. takes you out for dinner each night until the project is completed! 🙂

    1. Cats just have cattitude. It will be so nice when the sink is in and we can use it. Mr. has been using our InstantPot or the crockpot for meals. A big batch of something lasts for days. The dishwasher is still working, thankfully. PS – I love your post on November, great advice, thank you for sharing!

  4. “Donate right away, don’t delay” indeed. FINALLY cleaned out the garage — 8 months after moving in — and I’ll have to wipe spiderwebs from the donate pile out there before calling a truck to come pick it up. I’m trying to give myself a break here but can’t help thinking I’ve doubled my work. Sheesh!

    1. LOL – and now I want to hear if you ever let something sneak back into the house while you’re dusting it off before donating. Sad, but true, it has happened to me. If only I’d take my own advice and donate right away! You’re right, it seems like double the work when I don’t!
