I lost my blog for a day…again…

Memo to self (if you’re a blogger like me)…it is apparently important to use auto-renew for your blog’s website hosting, otherwise, if you don’t pay attention to your emails, and miss the reminder, your blog will go MIA for a bit and have to amble its way across DNS servers everywhere…

Me:  “Oh…shit…I forgot to renew my hosting account.  Can you help me?”

Mr:  “Bummer…Yeah, that’s kind of important, now you’ll just have to contact someone who can help you, ‘cuz I can’t.”

Me:  “Great, you know how I LOVE live-chatting with Bluehost support.”

Yeah, so I did that, forgot to renew when I got the reminder, and so things broke for a while.  Meanwhile, as the blog finds its way back to the DNS servers around the world, I’m doing a bit of healing.

You can just call me ‘Crash’.  It is my new nickname.  My knee, elbow, ribcage, shoulder, and ego are on the mend after a less than eloquent bike crash.  At least I had my helmet on, no head injury sustained!

Don’t worry, I may amble in my stride for a few days, and I can’t laugh, ‘cuz it hurts my ribs too much, but I’ll recover along with my blog.  I have to stay off my bike for a bit, but I’m happy to report that my website was recoverable and my blog and I are on the route to recovery.

Sigh…  Thanks for stopping by!  Stay safe on the roads with your bikes and use auto-renew for your websites!!

  1. Oh no! That sounds pretty awful, taking a fall like that. Take it easy for a few days, and feel better. Glad you got your blog situation worked out. I’m hoping mine will auto-renew, as I got a notice awhile back saying it would. Fingers crossed, at any rate. 🙂

    1. Thank you, I’m taking it easy – which I find harder than I thought it would be to do so! The blog thing…seems to be a work in progress, still not working like it is supposed to.

  2. Feel better from the bike injury. And yeah, my deadline was july 5, and I knew that I had to renew it before or the website would be taken down. Glad you were able to recover your blog!

    1. Thank you! I knew it was coming up, and spaced out that I hadn’t set it to autorenewal! Grr…it is still propagating on servers, sometimes things work and sometimes they don’t! Frustrating, but I am thankful 30 days hadn’t gone by and I lost it for good! Glad to hear you knew what to do when and not have to go through this!

    1. Thank you, time heals all wounds and bumps in technology! The older I get, the slower the process it seems. I appreciate your words of healing!

  3. Ug….I have to admit I do love your ability to take “Crash” as a nickname for a bit. It is not funny, but you did indeed make me laugh. Keep getting better.

    1. Thank you, Donna. Laughing hurts like hell, but if I can’t laugh at myself and the situation, I’ll feel sorry for myself, and that’s NO fun! Glad you laughed!!
