Going Gray

Going gray – 14 weeks, not really a hats off to a great stage

Howdy partners!  Hats off to another week of going gray.  Here I am at 14 weeks trying to figure out how to style the darn (damn) skunk line.  I can’t really cover it up, or can I?

Really?  Yep, looking like it is getting pretty broad across the head now don’t ya think?

Oh well, it is colder than ______ outside here today!  There’s absolutely no way I’m heading out anywhere.  So what’s a girl going gray at 14 weeks to do but try to take selfies and figure out what to do with her hair?  Come on…haven’t you ever had winter fever and took a bunch of really bad selfies?  It isn’t just for the younger crowd don’t ya know!?!?

Seriously…really…yep, seriously!?!

So, since it is only the middle of December, and there’s a lot of winter left.  Finding a hobby is a good thing.  The long winter ahead reminds me, especially as I look at my outgrowth of gray, there is a lot of time left before I’m completely gray.  It isn’t going as fast as I would like it to.  My motto is…be patient…be patient…be patient!  This stage is definitely a work in progress, both mentally and physically.

Status check, there’s about 2 inches of outgrowth, depends on if I pull it up in a clip or just let the curls fall down to the side.  My bangs have grown out the same amount as the gray…huh, imagine that?!  Since I started using the new shampoo, when I try to curl my bangs to control them they go all kiddywampus.  I’m pretty sure if I had bangs dangling on my forehead that might not be overly helpful.  All I can imagine is seeing a big circle of white on the top of my head?  Kind of like a Santa cap, missing the red part?  Skipping that idea, yep I am.  Instead, I tend to go with the pull it back looks.  It has been my go-to look since the darker hair pulled back falls on top and covers up the crown a bit more and appears like it controls the crazy bangs.  (I try, really I do!)

Oy…I’m feeling a bit foggy about what style to go with!?!  (And…Yes, I really should remember to make sure the bed is made before taking pictures!  Oh, now you noticed? Right!?)

The past few years, I’ve had more of a side part look going on.  But now that’s starting to look a bit lopsided…oh, man…that’s not goooooood!

Maybe I should try wearing hats?  I don’t really have any because I’ve never been a hat person.  I was always afraid it would mess my hair.  Oh, the irony.

Holy crap!  Did you see it too?  No??  Whew, good…!  Actually, I’ve been noticing it for a little over a week.  Gray hair on my head isn’t the only place I’ve found gray popping up.  Yep, right smack in the center of my left eyebrow, standing all alone – there it is – a prominent gray eyebrow hair.  (The Tim Allen Santa Claus movie scene is running through my head again!).  Plucking what eyebrow hair you have at this age isn’t recommended if you know what I mean!?  There is only so much an eyebrow pencil liner can do.  And apparently, they don’t cover up gray hair very well either.

Maybe if I just pull the hat down further I can hide it?

Enough of this madness today!  There are things to get done and football games to watch and oh yeah, I’ve got 12 items to find (times a couple (few) days since I’m behind!) to add to my collection box.

14 weeks really isn’t that bad.  I moved my part over closer to the center, so now I look a little less lopsided.  Yep, I can hold my head up high, smile like the rest of those beautiful confident, fully colored hair people and get on with the day!   Oh, and my inspiration look back this week?  I saw another beautiful lady at a meeting I was at.  She has long gray (salt and pepper) hair.  She wears a hat in the winter, pulls it off when she goes inside.  Gives her hair a little shake and curls drop in place (no messy look even with a hat) and her hair looks gorgeous.  Ah…there is hope, yes, good graycious, there is hope!  I know it can be done, and done beautifully!  Maybe I should add a hat to my wishlist for Christmas???

Feel free to leave me your tips on styling this stage!!  See you soon…PS…Thanks for stopping by, I’m glad you’re here to join me!  Stay warm!
