Cat attacks the kabob

My day began by being awakened and forced to arise from the warmth of our cozy bed by the sound of loud purring…and a paw on my face.

“Wake up, human…”

I rolled over and heard a sudden change to a loud MEOW, followed by a thud…as Dessy jumped from the bed to the floor once she realized Mr. was up and off to the kitchen to brew coffee, and most importantly feed the queen of food requisition.

She goes to great feats to get food.  The night before last, she did the reverse jump from floor to table, with a loud  ‘HUMPF’!

…it’s a funny story…really, it is.

The grill was hot that night, and Mr. cooked up some delicious kabobs for us.

Dessy could smell them from the floor.  We heard her reviving up, claws scratching the floor as she geared up her hind legs for propulsion into the air.

HUMPF…there she was.

Surprised she made it to the top and extra pleased for landing so close to the target.

“Wow, what a warm and welcoming site this plate is…”

“Huh…no one said anything, maybe I can take a closer look.”

“Ah, this smells good……”

“What the hell, where did it go, it’s gone?  Wait, what are these things?”

“They smell interesting, slightly like the food remains of some sort.”

“Nope, no REAL food.  Damn, I missed out again.”

Yes, Mr. came to the rescue and moved the plate of food (after the photo ops were taken, of course).  He gave Dessy the grilling gloves instead.  You know, in an attempt to appease her while we ate the good stuff.

It worked this time, we’ll see what happens the next time he sizzles up a meal that Dessy thinks she should join us in.

There’s a certain sense of appreciation in our family for a cat who knows her limitations but stretches them in an effort to survive and maintain her girly, curvy figure.

PS – Who is your favorite grilling partner?  Is it a cat?  What do you put on your kabob?  We love grilling in the summer – share a link to your favorite recipe or leave me a comment on what we should try!

    1. LOL! That’s funny :-)! Our dog is like that, too…is it their human parents who are warped or is it them? 😉

  1. Too cute, my cat walks up and down me to wake me up and if I ignore him, he puts his head right by my face, tickles my cheek with his whiskers and then meows as loud as he can.

    1. Aw, thanks for sharing thoughts about your cat! Dessy will do that at times too. Funny how they learn how to control their humans! Thanks for stopping by to check out the post!

    1. She just wants any food! Strokes definitely change a life, my mom had one and it changed her life forever too. Sorry you’re unable to cook out 🙁

      1. To be honest, I don’t miss it.

Cats are like that. They want it, even if they shouldn’t eat it (like anything with onions, which at best are bad for them and at worst can kill them).

        1. That’s good to hear that you don’t miss it. Lucky for Dessy, we only let her ‘look’ the rest of the time, she gets her normal cat food – she’s just fat ‘cuz she eats what her sister leaves behind!
