Pfft, dear winter, I wish you were gone

I swear I’m going a bit stir crazy.  I was feeling gloom, despair, and agony this past weekend, so much so I even resorted to watching an old Hee Haw Show!

The glorious 4th winter we’re having here in Wisconsin has no apparent rush to let go and allow for the arrival of spring here.

Oh, come on now, it really hasn’t been that long of a winter has it?

Well, let me ponder that thought for a moment.

Damn…I just checked the forecast, and there is more snow predicted for this weekend.

NO…but, sadly Yes, it is true!

Which leads patrons on a steady path to the Dam Bar (it’s really called that, no kidding!).

Snow covers the ground in most places we look.  Copper’s poop zone isn’t expanding in the yard.  And it looks like a cigar package exploded all over with no place to walk.

Ewe…poor pup!

The footsteps in the snow look like ice caps in Alaska, instead of the green grass of the plains in Wisconsin.

The snow on the deck is congregating in luminescent beauty.

WTH?  I swear it looked like this a couple of winters ago (3 weeks ago).

There aren’t any flowers growing in flower beds or any buds or blossoms on the trees.

Despite my imagination or as many times as I draw them, they haven’t appeared yet.

The icicles that formed over the past week’s winter are slowly melting.

But dagnabit, if they aren’t hanging on for dear winter’s life.

Yep, I’m right there’s no rush to spring here.

And you know what, this is the one time I’m not willing to brag too much that I’m right.  (Shh…let’s keep that a secret, don’t tell the Mr. or my boss).

Just in case you, too, have forgotten what spring looks like, here are reminders.  Take note of the colors we’re craving to see.  Unite with me, let the power of suggestion work miracles.

Oh, woes me, we all (humans and birds alike) are done waiting for spring.

Dear 4th winter…Pfft, I wish you were gone!

What is your favorite childhood show?  Did you watch Hee Haw, too?

  1. St. Louis weather has been nothing short of psychotic … Mother Nature forgot to take her Lithium or sumthin’ … high of 40(ish) last weekend, high of ** 76 ** forecast for this Thursday?!!! WHAT-THE-F??

    I’m so over it. …

  2. That looks very chilly! I don’t want to make you jealous or anything but we’re going into autumn here in the Southern Hemisphere and it was 30 degrees C yesterday. It’s a bit cooler with rain today. It never snows!

  3. Not to put you too much on the spot, but did you manage to read my little poem about winter holding on, a few blogs back? I wrote it when I was around 13, and although I have no doubt climate change is affecting most if not all our weather-related problems, it was comforting to find the poem and realize another long winter captured my poetic fancy. And what is in that sandwich??? Yum.

    1. Yes, I commented on your post too!! It was a wonderful poem, so glad you kept it and shared it!! The burger had mushrooms, white cheddar cheese, bourbon dressing…it was delicious!

  4. P.S. Loved the flowers you drew! And the photos … and while I didn’t watch Hee Haw then or now, I did catch T. Ernie Ford on the Jack Benny Program on some channel 2 days ago! He had a voice!!! Shelley, your posts are truly a delight. I sit here in my little apt den waiting for the warmer temps to crawl in and reading it…and I know, as sure as I know my middle name (or did yesterday) that come Thursday, when temps here are to be in the 70’s, that I’ll be complaining.
BTW, 2 magnolia trees across the street are barely holding the pink back … one more day, little trees. Hang in!

    1. LOL – thank you, Ellen. I appreciate you reading my blog and I appreciate your kind words! I’m jealous of the blooming trees, share pictures!!

    1. Thanks, G! It’s sad I remembered the episode, but then again, that means my memory is still going strong! 😉

      1. Getting memory conformation from ridiculous and absurd sources still counts in our favor. Bravo to you. (I still remember the Green Acres episodes that come on in the early morning) g

  5. I am right there with you along with everyone else in this dreaded state with its never ending cold & snow…. melting to just return again😫. My dad loved Hee Haw😂. My favorite was the Cosby Show but, well, that’s been ruined, so I’ll have to choose one that’s transcended time, Sesame Street. Hope we start to see blossoms & warmer weather soon🤞🌻🌞🌷!!

    1. I hear you, after the next round of 12″ we might just see spring!! Thank you for sharing your thoughts, I appreciate hearing from you. And I can’t wait to see (read) how your garden blooms this spring!!
