Take time to take a break from Facebook

Don’t get me wrong, when I was more active posting on Facebook, back when I was getting “likes” from my friends, it was fun to see what my friends were posting.  I could “like” their posts, and together we experienced the reciprocity thrill of “likes” feed. It was fun, something to look forward to in my day, and I didn’t mind spending too much time on it.

But then, I got busy, and Facebook became a lower priority for me.  A strange twist has happened on my feed since I backed off from being active on it.  When I took the time to look more closely at what my feed has become, it is not fun at all.

In fact, it is downright boring and is driving me to take a break from Facebook.

Now, when I look at it, it has just become an annoyance of advertisements.  That means, I’m just wasting time just scrolling through it hoping to find something interesting.  Just like junk mail and spam email.

Don’t believe me?  Double dog dare me to prove my Facebook feed is boring enought to drive me to take a break from Facebook?

Here’s what my feed consisted of this morning.  I won’t waste too much of your time, but just to show you my feed is a boring waste of time, here goes a quick scrolling recap:

A Friendversary pop up – from 8 years ago.  Oh dear, I’m more sad to see this than celebrate it, it means I’ve been sucked into Facebook for 8 long years.

A website for Chase that a friend liked.  I don’t get it, I’ve never liked Chase’s page – why does it show up on my feed?  That’s just plain irritating.

A funny video from Wimp.com – Why cats are better than dogs?  I love both cats and dogs, and the video while cute, after watching it, I found it is boring.  Why did I even waste time and watch it?  Oh yeah, so I could tell you what the post was about for this blog – duh?!

A post from one friend tagging another about what they are going to do today.  Should I feel sad that I’m not posting about what I’m going to do today?  Should I post that I’m blogging about why I don’t like my Facebook feed on Facebook to see if anyone else would say they are doing the same thing?  Would anyone care?  Why post what you’re doing, just do it or just call the friend up or text them instead?  That’s what I would do, but then again, that’s probably why my feed is so boring.

A sponsored video from Body Groove about dance moves – I have no idea why that is showing up on my feed.  That’s just plain annoying.

An InspiredHome’s video about Autism posted by a friend – nice to support causes, not sure why it showed up on my feed though?  I guess, if it helps bring awareness to Autism, so be it.  Again it is just another form of advertising.

A Breathing for Peace video from December 2016?  I never watched it back in 2016, why is it popping up now?  What the heck is Facebook just trying to find out what interests me?

A share of a friend’s Friendsversary pop-up.  It was nice the friend of a friend wanted to remind their friend that they are friends for a long time, but again…not sure how that’s important for me to see on my feed?

An Incredible Recipes Video.  It isn’t even a recipe video.  What the heck?  Should I feel as though I might just want to go back to bed?!  Maybe…probably…I just might!?

A sponsored ad by Purple – for a chair mattress.  I use a standing desk.  Doesn’t Facebook know that?  Just another irritating ad.

Oh good graycious the above recollection of what is on my Facebook feed is boring enough to take a break and move me into action away from Facebook today!

Enough is enough – what a waste of time!  I’m positive there are way more important things to do than scroll through a bunch of ads on Facebook.  There’s a big wide world out there to discover, enjoy and experience!  Grab a friend and go find adventures to “like” together!
