Yummy Food – Café Wren and Marigold Café

What should a couple of gals, on the lookout for yummy food, do on a beautiful day?  Take a road trip of course.  More on the road trip later, because…well, yes, it is another EverydayAdventures2017 assignment for a different day!

Yummy Food assignment for EverydayAdventures2017 took me and my travel companion on a route to a couple of places to eat that neither one of us had ever tried before.

Here are me and my travel partner!  I love how she is way better at taking selfies than I am…

IMG_3667cwFirst stop, as luck would have it, was Café Wren.  Café Wren is a quaint little café in Luck, WI.  After reading their menu online, we were drawn there to give it a try for breakfast.

We took a picture of the outside where we parked. Love how the wren from their logo sign reflected on the window of the adjoining building.  Made you look twice didn’t I?

IMG_3668cwCafé Wren has a great coffee/latte/espresso menu.  My travel partner had the Café Miel and enjoyed it.  I had a little taste and she was right, it was good.  Not for me though. I had too much coffee at home while getting ready, so no latte or coffee for this gal. Instead, I gave the Raspberry Lemonade a try.  It was very refreshing and served in a big enough travel glass to take with me on the road.

We sat on the charming patio area to wait for the delivery of our breakfast.

IMG_3655cwI had the Pesto, Egg & Tomato sandwich with my Raspberry Lemonade.

IMG_3650cwThe sandwich was delicious.  Just the right amount for breakfast and enough bulk to it to hold me over until a later meal at our destination.

Before heading out, we took a quick stroll through their interior dining areas.  As you can see, outside was the hot spot.  We only saw a couple of people inside in the other area to the left.  I’m sure when the weather is cooler, this room is full of happy conversations over coffee.  The wall decorations are local artist’s artwork for sale.  Perfect for those out shopping and looking for unique artwork.

IMG_3656cwFor dinner after shopping (more to come about that in a future post), we headed to River Bend Vineyard & Winery where Marigold Café was there cooking up their Panini’s.  Whew, we made it in time before they closed up for the day!

It was a hot one outside, so we sat in the shade next to the grapevines to enjoy the delicious meal.

IMG_3723rvbWhile waiting for the meal delivery, I couldn’t help but admire the grapes.  Looks like a nice crop of grapes this year.  Here’s to hoping I’ll be able to help volunteer with their harvest later this fall.

IMG_3721rvbThen our meal delivery appeared.  Ahh…The Foxberry Panini was my choice for the day!

IMG_3724rvbmgcIt was mouth-watering!  Glad they delivered napkins with it. I had a hard time eating it slow enough.  I paced myself so I could enjoy every finger-licking bite.  The cranberry Chipotle on it was a nice spillover touch and complimented the kettle chips as a great dip factor.

IMG_2603rvbThe Marigold Cafe truck is so adorable – check them out on Facebook here.

Of course, last but not least, when at a winery, one should always taste the wine!  We were lucky enough to have time before they closed to enjoy a glass of my all-time favorite wine – River Bend Blend.

IMG_3726rvbCheers to a lucky day, with a great companion just traveling around tasting up some Yummy Food!
