The day I found weird inspiration at the vineyard

The weirdest thing has happened to me since I cleaned my office.  It happened when I finally found the top of my desk.  After sorting, scanning, shredding, and finding a spot for everything…my desk is clean and clear of clutter, except for this colorful post-it note holder, my glasses, and my cup of coffee.

Ever since the moment of clean happened, it feels strange to me, in the oddest sort of way.  It’s like I’m in somebody else’s office?

And, I’ll be damned…now I have writer’s block when I stand at my desk to write a blog post.

What the hell…?

Writer’s block doesn’t exist…lack of imagination does. – Cyrese Covelli

So, determined to fix the blockage, I headed to the kitchen to get more coffee and ran into the Mr.

Mr:  “Are you going to hurry up and get your blog done so we can go for a run?”

Me:  “I’m not sure what to write about?”

Mr:  “Don’t you have one of those challenges or something to prompt you?”

Me:  “Yeah, today is the Odd Ball one, but I’m feeling odd myself and I’m not sure if I have any pictures to use.  I’ll have to see what I turned out from our visit to River Bend.

“I wish I would’ve taken a picture of the guy with his shirt.  Or the lady and her underwear…”  (Busting out in laughter, I almost spit my coffee out as I recalled the moment…)

Photo thanks to Google Search – apparently it’s a real racing team!

Mr:  “What are you laughing about, the guy’s t-shirt, or the lady?”

Me:  Still laughing…”It was the way you said, Oops when you saw the lady and how quickly you looked away.  It was one of your classic-make-me-smile moments.”

Mr:  “I was going to comment on her tattoo until she cleared the barrel and there it was… her skirt stuck in her underwear.  All I could think of was, Oops.”

Me:  Still laughing, “I’m so mean to laugh.  It was a good thing her friend noticed and helped her out.  But seriously…how somebody could not know their skirt was in their underwear is beyond me.”

Mr:  “It’s not really that weird, think about how many guys walk around with their fly open.  It happens.”

Me:  “Yeah, I guess so…anyhow, thanks for the laugh again this morning.  Since I don’t have a picture of the moment, maybe the tractor shot turned out?  That was weird to see all the tractors and old farmers hanging out at the vineyard.”

Mr:  “Yeah, that was a first for us.  So…um…you’re not getting the blog done standing here in the kitchen.”

Me:  “Yeah, the yard doesn’t have much for photos either.

There’s always the table…my hair tools…and by the way, I do remember the bag of chips being really delicious last night.”

Mr:  “Yeah, you sure looked like you were enjoying them!”

Me:  “It was another successful snacking session.  I’ll go get my post written so we can go for a run!”

PS – What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever seen at a Vineyard?  When you have writer’s block, where do you find your inspiration from?

  1. Oh thank goodness! I thought it was only me! I’m just rotten like that. I fall into hysterics at inappropriate moments. I don’t mean to or want to for that matter….its like a reflex! Loland to be honest with you….I’d have had that picture. I couldn’t have resisted! Hahaha

    1. LOL – thank you for helping me feel better about my laughter! I had just put the camera away when the moment happened! I need to keep it out and at the ready…one never knows when cheeky moments are about to happen!

  2. Thankfully since starting my blog back up a few weeks ago, I have not had much writer’s block. I have been learning to look at the world all around me with new eyes and I see inspiration where others would not look. Also, I have been being inspired by other bloggers such as you Shelley! Have a great Sunday!

    1. That’s awesome, Jennavive! You’re right on target – there’s inspiration everywhere. I’m so touched you find inspiration here on my blog – ditto to you, right back at ya! Hope you have a great Sunday too!
