Photography Challenge – Recap of EverydayAdventures2017

I bet if I were to ask every professional photographer, they’d tell me, “Not every photography challenge is easy to complete.”

Photography challenges containing a boring list of uninteresting topics, or aren’t challenging at all, or way too hard to complete, especially if you’re a beginner in photography, get dropped quickly.

If a photography challenge doesn’t keep you interested, you’ll quit and drop the challenge before completing.

But, when the photography challenge adds in a sense of adventure along with the challenge, it becomes interesting, just the right kind of hard to do, and appropriate for the beginners out there wanting to improve their photography skills.

When I happened upon the EverydayAdventures2017 @ RowdyKittens challenge a little over a month ago, I was so excited.  I wrote about my anticipation to take on the challenge here.

I’m here to tell you, EverydayAdventures2017 was fun and challenging all rolled up in one great month-long adventure.

Kudos to Tammy @ RowdyKittens.com for putting the awesome list together.

As I finished my cup of coffee, I reflected back on what drew me into the challenge in the first place. Tammy is right, you don’t have to travel far away to enjoy everyday adventures.  They are right in front of you, waiting for discovery.

All you have to do is just notice the adventures right in front of you and enjoy.

In my enthusiasm to keep the challenge going on a daily basis, I didn’t do so hot keeping track of the order of completion.  My tracking list was a mess.  I had chosen from the get-go to do the challenge out-of-order.  As I got absorbed in the daily topics, I lost track of the actual number I was on. Every time I reviewed it and tried to double-check, I’d end up on #30. It was a 31-day challenge.  Oh, dear…maybe more coffee would’ve helped?

Going out-of-order is okay! I highly recommend taking any photography challenge out-of-order. It is okay to embrace your inner rebel, right?  Of course, it is!

Photography challenges really do work to take in whatever order fits you best or the order that will help you complete it.  (Hint…if you can’t count out-of-order, you might want to double-check your math before you mark something off the challenge list.  Or just cross them off as you complete them.  The point is just to complete it!).

Believe it or not, double checking the order of my completed list and getting a picture of a not-so-messy list was the toughest photo to take for this challenge!
