On top of the world – a mop, a cat, and a martini

I’ve watched the Mrs. clean the floors a couple of times over the years.  I love a good old-fashioned floor washing day.  It’s not a job that the Mrs. appears to love doing.  She does like it when it is done, though.  Especially when the weather is nice so she can head outside to sit on the deck.  She loves to put her feet up, relax, and celebrate when she finishes.

I, on the other hand, love the whole process.  It takes patience to wait for her to get all the supplies in order, and then, my favorite part happens.  The Mrs. moves everything off the floor and she puts chairs on top of the table and the island.

It is then when I have been blessed with a new view.  I can’t resist climbing on top.  My sister never joins the floor washing party, so I have every change in surface all to myself.

I look nonchalant as Mrs. sets the chairs on the table.  I don’t want to be noticed, you know, just in case she’d be tempted to toss me out of the room.

My favorite spot is to jump up on the island.  I’m on top of the world there.

The stools get me extra high in the air, and I can see out the windows at the same time I watch Mrs. do the dirty work.

I also have to inspect and make sure there are fresh paw prints on the newly washed floor.  Mrs. washes fast, so I must move lickety-split before it dries and my prints don’t stick.  She doesn’t look happy when I help her at the floor level.  I’m probably better off staying up high.

Who needs an official St. Patrick’s day party to have a good time?  Just give the Mrs. a green bucket, a pair of yellow gloves, and a dirty floor and it is a good day to celebrate.

  1. I never thought to make myself an old fashioned after a good floor mopping. Something to remember…

Great photos of the cat on high. She would probably prefer if you just left the chair on top of the table for her viewing pleasure.

    1. I can’t wait to see your photos of the cocktail after floor mopping! Yes, Tizzie would be content to have every perch up high. She has many a throne around our house. The higher the better!

    1. Thank you, Cee. Me too on the song, I love to sing it out loud (when no one is around) – it was stuck in my head all day long! 🙂
