Keeping an eye on the storm

Yesterday, as I typed away at my work desk, I heard the weather sirens going off.  I was taken by surprise.  I looked out the window and didn’t see any tornadoes or storm clouds.  Just a normal cloudy day.  What the heck?  In Wisconsin, it may have been a spring storm approaching from a direction I couldn’t see.  Then the sirens stopped as quickly as they started.

Unbeknownst to me, it was a planned day for testing the system.  Thank goodness it wasn’t real.  Whew, I sighed and got back to work.  I wasn’t ready for a tornado to interrupt my day, I had piles of stuff to get done before the end of the day.

After work, I let Copper out to do his business and noticed Dessy enthralled with her view out the window.  I grabbed my camera (of course) and smiled as I prepared myself to catch some action shots.  Our pets seem to know when things are going to happen that will disrupt their routines and provide me with blog post material.  Sometimes they welcome my presence, like when I have food, or treats, but sometimes they don’t.  I have to be very, very, quiet, and patient.

Shh, don’t interrupt her, she’s watching the birds.

The robins are loving the open ground, now free of snow in many parts of the yard due to the warmer temperatures.  38 degrees to be exact.  A degree warmer than the day before.  Inch by inch the snow is disappearing and progress is being made in the direction of spring.  We all have a glimmer of hope.

And, the birds have been singing up a storm.  Is spring really here?

It’s glorious isn’t it, Dessy?  It’s a show no, doubt!

IMG_0956c

Who me?  I’m busy can’t you see?

IMG_0958c

Yeah, you. What’cha watching?

The birds, of course.  Look at all of them, they fly back and forth between the house and the fence and then land in the tree.

It’s show-stopping mesmerizing.

Do you see all of them, Dessy?   I’m counting 7 on and around this tree.  The worms are popping up through the brown grass, timing their entrance to the light just right with the dancing birds in the yard.

Duh, that’s what I’m watching, silly human, put away the camera and focus on the birds.

Copper senses something isn’t right about the weather.  It’s weird to have such a big area to leave his cigar treasures and he must know the clearing is only temporary.  The yard hasn’t been free of snow for longer than a day or so all winter.

It’s a mirage that he’s afraid to cross over.

Someone (aka, me) is gonna have to do their squats and clean up the yard.  That’s a lot of poop that multiplied over the last 200 winters.

Oh, well, I guess I was looking for something to do to work my butt cheeks into shape.  I’ll get right on that once the sun comes up.

Really?  That’ll be a show to watch for sure.  Can the Mr. bring his camera?

Aw, shit…my crap-picking-squat-adventure might just have to wait, the weather is going to disrupt us yet again.

Up to 18″ of snow?  No way, can you fricken’ believe it?

And our winter saga continues – Friday the 13th of April…please send spring to rescue us!

    1. You’re welcome for the chuckle! If you have a pull in preventing the storm from hitting, I’m all ears! Happy Spring to you!

  1. Cigar treasures are the words to read ha ha . You are lucky that you see frozen snow daily. I have not seen frozen snow outside except the snow in my freezer hahaha 🙂

    1. Thank you, Bakshi! I forget to appreciate the changes in the seasons when they linger beyond my liking ;-)!

  2. Oh my Ms Shelley, Spring sure has been a temptress in your area. Hopefully the weather that shows up is a disappointment to the stuffed coat weather prognosticators.Hopefully, your weekend will be a grand one filled with exciting and memorable events with but a few of those less glamorous chores that contribute to an admirable physique despite their less than appealing nature. g.

    1. Thanks, G! It’s off to a splendid start – 4 inches of white snow, and 8-12 more expected. I might just get some snow shoveling exercise!
