How you know I have a foot fetish

Every morning, when I walk into my closet to get dressed for the day, I think of my daughter and a conversation we had when she helped me clear out my closet.  First, I remember that I still have work to do.  Secondly, that I love the result of our clutter clearing project.  Thirdly, that it’s a workday, and I have to work to do in my office – and I wonder if Laura at alltheshoesiwear would smile at my sorted lot of shoes?  Lastly, as I reach for my blog writing shoes to put them on, I think of the moment of confession I had with my daughter about my feet and shoe fetish tendencies.

Sarah:  “Mom, why do you have so many shoes right here on the floor?”

Me:  “Because I wear all of them every day?”

Sarah:  “You’re kidding me, right?”

Me:  “Nope, I wear all of them.  One pair is for blog writing, one for the treadmill, one for standing at work, one for when I go out to run errands, and one is for the end of the day when I want my feet to relax and chill.”

Sarah:  “Mom…you’re hopeless when it comes to shoes.”

Me:  “Yep, just like Nana was.  But, I use each pair every day, so they shall stay.”

It is true, I kind of have a lot of shoes, so maybe I am hopeless.  Functional shoes are standard operating equipment in my life.  I do believe shoe support is important and since I have a standing desk for work, it is imperative that I have good comfortable shoes.  And, I switch the shoes up during the day so other muscles in my feet and legs are used.  So there…I’m serious, really serious about shoes!

Pet feet, on the other hand, that’s a whole different story.  I love looking at their feet.  The adorable little pads protect them, the fur on the paws keep them warm, and pet feet are multi-functional.  It must be nice not to have to worry about having to wear shoes.

Copper protects his feet as much as possible, so while they get him from point A to point B, he’s not a fan of nail trimming or people touching his feet.  Frankly, I get his deal, I’m the same way…leave my feet to me, please.  So, I just let Copper be so he can bath himself, and relax and chill as much as possible in his little doggy bed.

Dessy – she uses her feet to get to her food, to curl up or to say a prayer at nap time, or sometimes she uses a paw for sunglasses.

Tizzie – she’s more diverse and creative in the use of her feet.  If there’s an empty chair, you’ll find her there.

She loves to play with small objects that make noise.  Her feet are agile – along with her mouth, she can pick up just about anything she’s interested in.

And she’ll pose while bathing.

Okay…I must confess, I don’t wear shoes while bathing.  I will go barefoot sometimes.  And…I do let my feet be exposed (rarely) to enjoy sunbathing…now, that’s the best treat ever for my feet!

PS – How about you, do you like feet?  Do you like shoes?  Are you a pet foot or human foot lover?  What’s your foot fetish like?

  1. Love painting my toenails, putting my feet in the sand, and I just picked up another pair of sandals yesterday 😉 Couldn’t resist the sale 😀

    1. When the weather speaks to sandals and flip-flops, and toes in the sand, I’m right there with you! Happy show your toes season to you! xx

  2. I have difficult feet so when I find a pair of shoes that fit I tend to wear them till they fall off my feet! Hubby loves feet and does an excellent foot massage.

    1. That’s awesome, so glad you’re true to your feet, too, and that you’ve found a man who gives great foot massages! Lucky lady you are!! Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

  3. I don’t like shoes and never have. I wear flip-flops year round. I do have an old pair of Crocs for winter. We don’t get much winter here, though. I’ve tried other kinds of shoes, but only wore them a tiny bit.

    1. Congrats on finding what works best for you and your feet…and you’re lucky you don’t have the type of weather to freeze your toes! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

      1. I’m sorry, I feel I was too abrupt in my comment before, and it’s been bothering be ever since. I’m glad you enjoy lots of variety of shoes. I see everyone wearing colorful athletic shoes, and even cool looking boots, and wish I liked them for myself. There was one type I did really like, and that was the Earth shoes back in the 70s. … And, your kitty and puppy feet are very cute. I like our cat’s paws, but she doesn’t like me messing with them. 🙂

        1. Aw, no worries, I was happy to hear your thoughts! Earth shoes…oh, my, that’s a blast from the past! Thanks for clarifying and for the additional thoughts! 🙂

    1. Thank you, Cee – I loved your collection for the week too! Your fellow kitty paws photo is so sweet!

  4. I am exact opposite of you, Shelley! I am barefoot practically 24/7, only putting on shoes if I go anywhere, even in the winter. My kids have always been the same way too…I wonder where they get it from, hmmm???? Also, I admire that you have blogging shoes! I have never heard a writer say that they have shoes just for writing!

    1. LOL – you can only catch me barefoot when I’m on a beach or sleeping! Yes, blogging shoes are just part of the rotation process for the day :-)! I feel weird if I wear a different pair when I write…maybe I should try a different pair and see what happens?

  5. Hey Shelley,
    Fantastic pictures!!
I have nominated you for this Mystery Blogger Award, I hope you are fine with it.
    Thank you!!

      1. You’re welcome, Shelley! We did enjoy the last summer vacation. It’s now officially rainy season here.

        1. That’s great, glad to hear it. Oh…no, I bet you have great ideas on how to make it through that season though?!
