Good Reads – EverydayAdventures2017 – Day 2

Books…books…books, I love books.  Reading is the perfect habit to form for a lifetime.  Not only can you continue learning by what you choose to read, by the turn of a page you are taken far, far away from where you are by the words of the book you’re reading. And it is a great exercise for your brain too.

For fellow self-help book lovers, isn’t it great how by reading a book you can learn new skills or understand people better?  Or maybe even yourself?  You can learn to relax, or how to think differently, or how someone else learned lessons and became successful. Over the years, my collection has tended to gravitate toward leadership books because I’m fascinated with learning how people work and think.  But, I still love a great mystery novel, thriller or adventure book too.  One that makes me laugh out loud is even better.

If I could trade jobs for a day, I’d try being a librarian.  Imagine being alone in the library able to wander every aisle, studying every book title.  Being free to pick up any book there, sit down to read a page or two before putting it carefully back on the shelf.  Then move on to the next one that catches your eye.  That’s probably nothing like what a librarian’s job is?  A girl can dream, right?

I love the bookshelf wall in my office.  I worked hard to make sure to only included tried and true, favorite books of all time, in my collection before I downsized and donated a bunch of books to the library.  Before donating, I had over 400 books.  Now I have only about 10-15% left that made the cut – scattered here and there in my house.  Books make great decorations, so I’ve read somewhere in one of them!  With the addition of plants, special pictures, and other little treasures the shelf is fun for me to look at.  Since shelf space is limited, I had to carefully choose the books I kept.  If I find a new one I really love and want to add to the shelf, I have to remove one and donate it.

I enjoy reading books before falling asleep.  Copper enjoys that too, he can get sleepy at a moment’s notice.  Nice yawn little buddy!

This book has recently made the addition to the club.  A great read, I highly recommend it to you.  I will read it again someday, that’s how I know it fits well in my collection.

I don’t own a Kindle, because, frankly, I love being able to unplug from electronics and hold the book and turn each page.  Mornings are a great time to read too.  I love to eat breakfast while I turn the pages of a book.  There’s nothing like being HERE in the moment, reading words of wisdom from a great book.

Bottom line, books can take you on everyday adventures – No.excuses.ready.set.read!  Reading is a great habit providing results that last!
