Staying motivated early on in the going gray process is a bit challenging. No matter what month of the process you are in, you’re going to have emotions all over the board. You’ll feel awe. You’ll feel rejected. You’ll wonder what other people think of you. Most of all, you’ll be thrilled you’re being true to yourself.
I’m almost to my 6-month mark. 23 weeks to be exact and I’m feeling the holy crap this is taking a long time stage. The reality is, I’m only 1/3 of the way to full transition. Yes, it takes about 18 months on average to transition to all gray. I’m finding this stage requires an extra dose of motivation. If only that would make hair grow faster…but, darn it doesn’t!

As I look back on my life, I realize that every time I thought I was being rejected from something good, I was actually being re-directed to something better.
Pay attention to people who have been there and done that and are happy with their gray hair. Sure there are people who love their colored hair too. I’m convinced they have moments where they wish they didn’t feel like they had to color their hair to fit in. I know I felt that way many times. Going gray can feel like you’re being rejected by those who color their hair. Remember you’re being re-directed to the self you want to be.
