A day to chill

I love feeling the warmth of the winter sun shining through the windows.  It takes the chill of outside away.  I know the cold is just waiting to creep inside at any opportunity that arises.

Outside though, it is cold, baby, it is cold.  We’re having a cold winter here in Wisconsin.

Nope, this chick is not going out there today…I’m happy to just dream of summer.  I might just grab a beer, watch a chick flick…yeah, that sounds like a perfect way to chill!

I wish!

I’m really just doing my bookkeeping…that I put off…for a season, it has been chilling just waiting for some action.  Yep, my good old procrastination skills prevail yet again.

I have been working on it today, really I have.  I just had to take a break and do something fun.  You know…to recharge.  Everyone needs to recharge!

It’s the weekend, and I don’t have to go anywhere, except being at my desk…where the work is waiting for me…instead, I grabbed my camera, sat all static in the warmth of the sun (far, far away from work to be done) clicked a shot or two.  It was fun to sit and stare out the window and admire the beauty of the sparkles on the snow.

No worries, what I was doing is legit stuff.  I’m practicing my photography skills, and I have Daily Post Prompts to write posts for.  Sigh…I’m hopelessly full of excuses today…

This week a winter storm showered us with a whiteout one day and sunshine the next.  It’s just the way it is until Spring arrives.  The winds accompanied the storm and joined in on the fun as it turned the fresh snow into creative artwork.  I love how it swirled around each corner as it was temporarily trapped.

It’s pretty, in a way.

The mice enjoy trekking their way through the snow and being out and about. Probably more of a survival instinct?  If I had my way, they’d be further away from the house.  Damn…apparently the poison (the Mr. said was placed) isn’t working, they’re still around.  Their happy little bouncing-to-and-fro-tracks prove it.  They’re out there moving from one corner to the next.  I never see them, but they are always busy, always looking for a way to get in and eat more cookies.  Too bad, you rascals, I ate them all!  You can just stay outside!  Good riddance to you!

Inside the house, it’s nap time.  There’s not much movement happening around here.  No mouse hunting going on either.  The cats have planted themselves in perfect corners of the kitchen floor.  Just right so they’re able to soak up the sun.  Makes me want to take a nap too.  Procrastination is contagious, I guess.

The cats sit (lay) static, as though they were cornered into it.  They know better, they love the fact they don’t have to move.  Why move?  There’s nothing to do but rest.  It’s the weekend!  And they’re cats.  They don’t have book work to do.

A sunny Saturday is a perfect time to chill.
